Searching for the best second choice

Hello to everyone and welcome back to my blog.
It is nice to have you here (again)!

This time I want to talk about the way I am dealing with finding something else to do after dance, something that inspires me and that gives me fullfillment.
Since I choose to be a flight attendant after my dancing career, I now have -due to the never ending Corona-crisis- loads of time to kill.
I also have to face the fact that I might be fired in a few months, or latest in 2022, when most of the governments support for our company stops. So for me it is definitely time to think of an alternative AGAIN!

As the first choice was and always will be dance, how do we find the best second choice? How do we find out what would make us happy?
As we all know, that is a tough question and that may take some time before we can find an answer on it.
Lately I tried to find some criteria that I find important for my second choice-job. For instance I find it important that it is:
*physical (no sitting around for hours)
*international (working with different cultures, different languages)
*irregular (no 9 to 5 job, please)
*financially secure
*a job in which I am mainly working with people
*not required to study for ages (I am not the youngest one anymore ;-))
*a mostly practical job
*not directly in the dance- or theatre sector
*a job in which I can use my knowledge of moving

These are aspects that I find important and appealing to me and that already makes it much clearer, because it excludes a lot of possiblities already. For instance my criteria exclude jobs like: lawyer, medical doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, administrative staff, call center staff, free lancer, office employee, translator, dance teacher, theatre employee, etc.

A few weeks ago a friend of mine was advising me to think about becoming a physiotherapist. She is a physiotherapist herself and we talked about some aspects of the job and I must say that this is a possibility that stays in my mind since we talked about it.
If I picture myself in a physiotherapist-center especially for dancers and athletes, I kind of like the idea. Or if I think of having my own physiotherapy-studio, mostly dealing with dancers or athletes…
To study physiothearpy takes in total 3 years which is not that long, actually. It is definitely something to keep on thinking about, because it covers a lot of the aspects that I find important for my possible third career.

Another way to try to find out what you would like to do after dancing, is to simply brainstorm on possibilities, but without any limits…so think big, think without any physical or financial restrictions, think broad, think crazy, think that anything could be possible!
Just let it flow and write it down.
And if you then look at this list of these some what crazy wishes and dreams, you can figure out what you would need for them to become real. In which different ways could you make this dream or wish come true? If it is definitely NOT possible for them to become real, you can even see whether there are more realistic versions or smaller versions of this crazy wish or crazy dream. Who knows, what will be your final idea?! 🙂
I will actually do it myself one of these days this week and I am very curious what will come out. I will let you know, definitely!
Take care and stay safe and healthy!
